My Nightly Essential: Sleep.

My nightly essential is sleep and lots of it. I’ve always been ‘one of those…The more sleep the better types. I used to question how people can perform at 3-4 hours of sleep a night. I didn’t quite understand how they could operate at such a low level of sleep. Now we’re all human and we don’t exactly get our so-called 8 hours of sleep a night. And the big question still remains; Does one exactly need 8 hours of sleep a night? From the reading I have been doing scientists believe that this 8 hour sleep rule is just a myth. We all require different amounts of sleep. However, there is one thing that rings true for everyone.

One can sleep for 8 hours or 4 hours the key is sound sleep. Falling asleep and staying asleep if where all the inner workings come to play.  So, if possible whenever possible try and get the most of your sleep-time. Being a lover of sleep I have no problem seeking out these strategies. Being a mom makes it harder to get sound sleep. So, once the baby is out I try to be out as well. Only at night though, I can’t nap in the daytime for some reason. If you can nap rock it! The body truly needs its downtime. Especially in this day and age when we never turn off or tune out.

The above diagram helps sum things up here. Amazing how many things can be affected by lack of sleep or simply poor sleep. So, todays lesson? Get more solid sleep. When you sleep make it a mission of quality. As you guys have probably already figured out I one-hundred percent support this statement. I had a great night of sleep last night and I can attest that I woke up with clarity and focus. No fuzziness or sleepiness here. Give your body and mind what it needs nightly: a healthy dose of solid sleep. Cheers to getting your Zzzz!
